Volunteer Profile - Snez

Meet Snez the wonderful volunteer who is putting on the new catch ups in the Panania, Liverpool, Bankstown area. Snez tells us about her family, why she wanted to start a group for Rainbow Families in the Bankstown area, and what people can expect when they come along to one of the catch ups.

Our family is made up of my partner and our two girls (a preschooler and a baby) and our needy furbaby! Our connection to the Rainbow Families community has been through attending various Rainbow Families events/catch ups and we always enjoyed connecting with other families from the community.

After attending events around other areas we discovered there was nothing local to us, and we noticed there were a lot of LGBTQ+ parents in the area so thought it would be great for us all to connect in a safe space and what better way than Rainbow Families events. Also want our kids to spend time with other kids of rainbow families and hopefully make friends on the way.

When people come along to one of our events they can expect a family friendly catch up where everyone is welcome, we area easy going and just looking to have a laugh with some adult conversation while all the kids play and discover new play areas around the local community.

The Bankstown Catch Up welcomes all LGBTQ+ parents including gay dads, lesbian mums, bi barents trans/gender diverse parents, queer parents, and parents through adoption, fostering and surrogacy. You can connect with the community online through the Facebook Group, or in person at our next catch up
