About Rainbow Families

Rainbow Families is the voice for and champion of LGBTIQA+ families and prospective parents in NSW. Our support network is run for the community by the community - we are volunteer-powered. We are here to advocate for, empower and celebrate the love and support that every individual is entitled to.

Getting Involved!

We always welcome extra hands and hearts! Whether it’s helping to organise a catch-up or planning one of our colourful annual events, campaigning for an LGBTIQA+ cause or hosting a workshop, your help is always appreciated. You can find out more about ways to become involved.

Upcoming Events

We want to meet your Rainbow family and connect them to LGBTIQA+ families all across NSW. Everyone is welcome to Rainbow Families events: parents and carers with their kids; prospective parents and carers; grandparents and significant others; even your dogs. We would love to see you there! You can see our upcoming events here.

Donate to Rainbow Families

We want all LGBTIQA+ families to be valued, included and celebrated. Our wonderful volunteers are working on the ground to fulfil this vision, but we need support from you. As a charity, what we do would be impossible without your support. We rely on the generosity of our supporters and community. All donations go to our events, advocacy work and helping our LGBTIQA+ families access support and resources. Please make a contribution here.

Rainbow Volunteers

Rica Seeto

Treasurer

Rica has been too sleep deprived from bringing up small children to have had anything to do with Rainbow Families up until this point. Now with the kids at school and the wife at work, she is looking for something to do that isn’t housework. Oh…and she’s an accountant.

Vanessa Gonzalez

Co-Chair

Prior to moving to the inner west, Vanessa was an active organiser of Blue Mountains Rainbow Parents coordinating weekend gatherings, playgroups and cooking circles. Professionally, she is a social worker with over twenty years experience in the field of child protection. She has two delightful sons, loves making craft, cooking and running the Bay run.

Charmaine Flood

Secretary

Charmaine is married to Anna and mum to three year old Annabelle, who takes after her in only ever wearing pink and having a secret sporty streak. The family has been a part of the Rainbow Families playgroup for over a year and Charmaine is now the volunteer coordinator. Each Thursday she puts out paints, toys and offers a warm welcome to regular and new parents and children.

Matt Howard
Co-Chair

Matt lives in Marrickville with his husband and two kids. His family was formed through adoption and has recently moved home to Australia from Canada. Mat works in NSW politics and is also a writer. He is looking forward to getting to know other rainbow families and connecting with our wonderful community.
