We recently made a submission into the Federal Government's Surrogacy Enquiry.
Our recommendations are:
- Work with state and territory ministers to create a consistent approach to legal parentage, adoption and fostering, assisted reproductive medicine, altruistic and commercial surrogacy and gamete donation, with a view to expanding options for LGBTQ parents (and parents experiencing infertility)
- Lift the ban on commercial surrogacy
- Form a new framework, led by a government regular Tory agency or NGO tomorrow to surrogacy arrangements, with the view to protect children, surrogates and intending parents potentially with the context of a highly regulated local market.
