Rainbow Families is kicking off a brand new catch-up group in Tasmania to help local families connect with each other. Driving the group are local couple Melissa and Alisha who said; "We wanted to start our own Rainbow Families group so that we can meet other families like ours and hopefully form some friendships. We really want our children to be around other children that have two mums/two dads/queer parents," she said.
Melissa said, "Becoming parents was not an easy road for us, navigating early parenthood was challenging and we still have many years ahead to navigate. We would also like to support other families and have other families support us on our parenting journey."
BYO food for the BBQ. Please join us for a great day of getting to know each other in a beautiful location.
ABOUT: Rainbow Families monthly catch ups are a great informal way to be introduced to the group. Wherever you are on your Rainbow Family journey, our events can help give you the support, knowledge, community connections and networks that will help you thrive. We tackle the big questions like feeding newborn babies, hold LGBTQ+ antenatal classes, organise camps to help kids build resilience (and have fun!) and hold workshops to help schools better understand the perspectives of LGBTQ+ families including gay dads, lesbian mums, trans parents and gender-diverse parents.
