National Autism Strategy Consultation

The Federal Government is developing a national Autism strategy to ensure that the needs of Autistic people and their families are being met.

A consultation process is taking place and input is specifically sought from the LGBTQ+ community. We know from the membership of our Neurodiverse Families Facebook group that many in our community identify as Autistic, or have a family member who does. Research also shows a significant overlap between Autistic and LGBTQ+ identities.

It is important that those making decisions about policy and service provision for Autistic people understand the diversity of our lived experience. You can contribute to the Rainbow Families submission by answering our survey questions which are adapted from the consultation Discussion Paper.

If you like, you can just answer the questions that resonate with you. You can also answer on behalf of a family member.

Other opportunities to be involved include in-person and online community events. You can find out more about the consultation here: Developing the National Autism Strategy | engage.dss.gov.au
