Wine, Cheese and Raising Teens

A closed parenting groups for LGBTQIA+ parents of teens and pre-teens, based on Tuning into Teens Emotionally Intelligent Parenting program

Over six weekly sessions, the group will offer peer support and a chance to explore the insights, ideas and strategies of Tuning into Teens which can help you improve family relationships and build your child's emotional intelligence.

Professional Parenting counselor, Lyndell Weaver is passionate about supporting parents to understand and practice relationship-based parenting. She has worked therapeutically with adults and children for over ten years and is excited to share this parenting model with parents and carers in our community. There will opportunities to share your experience, find allies to your parenting, discuss some of the changes, concerns and challenges that rainbow families are facing as their children enter adolescence.

The focus of Tuning into Teens is on listening to and managing both your own and your teenager's emotional experience in ways that help you stay connected through the turbulence and distancing that can come with this stage of life.

Tuning into Teens is informed by research evidence and helps you to:

  • communicate effectively with your teen

  • better understand your teen

  • help your teen learn to manage their emotions

  • help prevent behavioural problems in your teen

  • teach your teen to deal with conflict
