Family Pride

Rainbow Families is excited to join partners across the globe in celebration of the seventh annual International Family Equality Day (IFED) – a world-wide celebration of the LGBTQA+ parenting and family community.

Rainbow families, friends and allies in Sydney will be celebrating on May 3rd from 11am in Sydney Park.

Family Pride is a celebration of family diversity. It is an opportunity to bring together our families and the community to celebrate, socialise and reaffirm that we are strongest when we stand together. It's going to be HUGE!

Supported by the Commonwealth Bank, the event will be bigger and better than ever, with live entertainment throughout the day, plus FREE activities for the kids including jumping castles,  face-painting, sports activities and arts and crafts.

You can get involved by bringing some baked goods to add to the cake stall. We are also running a book swap. We would love your donations of preloved children’s books, and queer themed books for grown ups. All of these will be available at the book stall where you will also be able to buy brand new LGBTIQ+ inclusive books from Gleebooks.

We will be joining groups around the globe in celebrating the unique contribution made by diverse families including LGBTIQ-parented families, single parent families, foster families and grandparent-carer families. #IFED2020 aims to highlight the diversity of family structures and to strengthen solidarity among families, helping to raise awareness among politicians and the general public about the need for equal treatment and recognition for all families, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of their family's members.

Community organisations including the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby, ACON, Twenty 10, Wear It Purple, PFLAG, Reverse Garbage and NSW Police will also be on hand with fun activities for the whole family.
