Family Pride

Family Pride is a celebration of family diversity.

It marks global International Family Equality Day, an event that celebrates the unique contribution to a fabulous society made by LGBTQ+ parented families.

The Rainbow Families Family Pride event is a fabulous, fun-filled day with free activities for kids including jumping castles, face-painting, arts and crafts and sports activities. There will also be live entertainment all day - so bring your dancing shoes!

It is also a chance for LGBTQ+ parents including gay dads, lesbian mums, trans and gender diverse parents to connect, celebrate and strengthen our community solidarity. And eat cake - and we welcome everyone to bring some baked goods to add to the cake stall! We also plan a book swap, so bring some of your pre-loved kids books or queer-themed books for older readers and adults.  You might also find some fabulous treasures to take home from the new LGBTQ+ inclusive books that will be available for sale on the day.

Because International Family Equality Day aims to highlight the diversity of family structures and raise awareness among politicians and the general public about the need for equal treatment and recognition for all families, a range of LGBTQ+ and ally organisations also join us for the day. In previous years these have included the Gay and Lesbian Rights Lobby, ACON, Twenty 10, Wear It Purple, PFLAG, Reverse Garbage and NSW Police.

Rainbow Families, friends and allies in Sydney will be celebrating on May 1st from 11 am in Sydney Park.
