Earlier this month, families from all over NSW joined us for a weekend full of connection, fun and learning at our Rainbow Families Resilience Camp in Narrabeen.
The camp is all about helping kids build confidence, make new friends, and feel proud of who they are and the families they come from. While the children got stuck into games, crafts, outdoor adventures and resilience activities, parents had time to connect, share stories, and support one another.
💛 Thank You to Our Supporters
This year, thanks to Visa, Genea, and the generous donations via GiveOUT Day, we were able to offer 40 subsidised spots to families who might not have been able to come otherwise. We’re so grateful to everyone who helped make that possible.
What We Got Up To
There were bushwalks, campfires, billy cart races, and even stand-up paddleboarding. The kids also got creative in a resilience workshop run by Priya Vaughan from the University of Sydney and Black Dog Institute. Parents joined a supportive session with Marly Greenwood, sharing ways we stay strong as LGBTQ+ parents.
We also welcomed Christy Newman and Katherine Thompson from UNSW, who spoke with families about what support really looks like and how research can help meet the needs of our community.
Why It Matters
For lots of families, this camp is a rare chance to be surrounded by people who just get it. A place where no one has to explain themselves — and where kids see that their family is celebrated, not just accepted.
It’s more than a weekend away. It’s about feeling safe, feeling strong, connected, supported, making friends and creating memories.
Thank you to everyone who helped make it happen.
We can’t wait to see you again next year!
