Your EOFY Donation = Safer Rainbow Families! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ’–๐ŸŒˆ

At Rainbow Families, our vision is to enable LGBTQ+ parents and children to thrive - whatever the makeup of their family. That is why we stand up to overcome systemic invisibility and discrimination.

We make noise to ensure our community is safe and respected and has the same rights as any other family in Australia.
We recently experienced, yet again, what happens when our rights are violated, leaving us feeling rejected and unvalued by parts of the community.

In the next few months, we want to say loudly and proudly:

Discrimination is not on.
It is not OK.
And it is not acceptable.
Not now. Not ever.

Thousands of people like youโ€”and our wonderful alliesโ€”were appalled by the recent ban on same-sex family books from public libraries, and we successfully had the motion reversed.
However, this victory did not erase the unnecessary humiliation and fear it caused our community, especially within the Cumberland Council area.
We were reminded that we still have a long way to go before our family structures are accepted, and that Western Sydney Rainbow Families need more safe places and support networks around them. That is why we are asking you, your workplace, and your networks to dig deep this end of financial year to help us build up our communities to be stronger and more supported than ever.

With your help, we will:

  • Create a new Western Sydney Playgroup (we have already heard a great response since we posted about this last week!)
  • Equip the group with educational toys, books, and other things they need to get started.
  • Engage a facilitator to steer the playgroup while it is growing.
  • Host parenting classes to support those who may not have been able to attend our previous classes.

Your end-of-year donation plays a crucial role in helping us achieve our goal. We must create more safe places for our beautiful families to thrive and we cannot do it without you!
All donations over $2 are tax deductible.

Thank you for your generosity and support,
