That's a Wrap - Making Rainbow Families 2024

We were thrilled to host our annual Making Rainbow Families Seminar in Sydney on Saturday. The event provided invaluable insights into LGBTQ+ parenting options and was attended by around 40 guests in person and online.

We were fortunate to have some of the leading specialists in their respective fields join us, walking attendees through their intended parenting journey with expertise through an LGBTQ+ lens.

We'd like to extend a massive thanks to all our speakers, especially those who flew from interstate to support the event.

They included:

- Jacqueline McDiarmid - Sydney Couples & Family Therapy
- Amy Weeks - Program Manager, Barnardos Carer Recruitment and Intake
- Dr. James Brown - Obstetrician and Gynaecologist from Genea Australia
- Jaz Lane-Jones - Te Koha Midwifery & home insemination
- Sam Everingham - Global Director Growing Families
- Anna McKie - Surrogacy Australia and gave birth to a surrogate baby in 2020
- Sarah Bevan - Legal expert/ Family Law
- Tammy Rudd - Genea Australia

A special thank you to Sarah Bevan for stepping in at short notice to share her expertise on the legal aspects of LGBTQ parenting. Your contributions were invaluable, and we're incredibly grateful for your support.

We also want to extend our thanks to the young people who were on the youth panel who shared their experiences and perspectives on being part of an LGBTQ+ family - your insights were honest, heartfelt and inspiring!

The seminar covered a range of educational sessions on topics including fostering and adoption, assisted reproductive technology, surrogacy, trans and gender-diverse options and legal considerations for LGBTQ+ parents.

For those who couldn't attend in person, the event was live-streamed, which allowed attendees from around Australia to participate as well.

We can't wait to hear from attendees who have decided to use the information they learned to begin the steps to starting their own family! :)
