Seahorse Playgroup is a social gathering for LGBTQIA+SB parents, carers, and their children here on Ngunnawal and Ngambri land. Our aim is to create a community space where Queer families are celebrated and normalised.
Get-togethers start with a baby Acknowledgement of Country, followed by a parent/carer check-in where we talk about the ‘highs and lows’ of the week. Sessions also include a featured activity run by our facilitator. To see more of what we do, check out our Instagram.

Circle of Security - Expressions of Interest
Rainbow Families are very excited to be hosting a Circle of Security Program for parents who are part of the LGBTIQA+ community in the ACT. This will be facilitated by members of the queer community and will start in Term 1 of 2026. This is a free program and we are currently looking for expressions of interest from families who would like to attend. To get the most out of the group the size is small, so currently only one parent/carer from each family will be able to attend. Childcare will be available on site for families who attend the group.
What is Circle of Security Parenting Course (COS-P)?
Circle of Security is an evidence-based parenting program and approach designed to help parents and caregivers build a stronger, more secure attachment with their children by understanding their emotional needs and behavioural cues.
- It is an 8 Week group that will provide you with a theoretical framework to help you better understand your child's physical and emotional needs.
- This course will not give you specific behavioural interventions but will enable you to view your child's behaviour as a form of communication.
- this approach supports caregiver/child relationships and assists in altering negative patterns of behaviour
- Whilst the COS-P group is psychoeducational, it can be emotionally activating as it reflects on experiences in your own history that affect care giving patterns.
To register, please fill out the form via this link and meet our faciltators and extra info you might want to know.
