Rainbow Families is excited to announce Rainbow Playsteps, a new program for parents with children under the age of 4 who are part of the LGBTIQA+ community in Melbourne. This program, starting in Term 1 of 2026, offers a unique opportunity for parents and caregivers to learn and grow with their children in a supportive and inclusive environment.
About the Program
Rainbow Playsteps is designed to empower LGBTIQA+ parents by providing a dedicated space to explore parenting topics relevant to our community. Each week, we will delve into various aspects of infant and child development, including:
•Communication
•Behaviour
•Development
•Routines
•Play
•Attachment
We will discuss practical tips and strategies, drawing upon our unique strengths and resilience to navigate the challenges of parenting. This program is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other LGBTIQA+ families, share experiences, and build a strong community network.
Meet the Facilitator
The Rainbow Playsteps program will be facilitated by Laura, a proud member of the LGBTIQ+ community and a seasoned professional in the early childhood and parenting sector. With nearly 15 years of experience at QEC, Laura has supported numerous parents in building their confidence and strengthening their parenting skills.
Laura brings a unique and personal perspective to the program. She and her partner have two beautiful children, and she has experienced the journey of parenthood as both the birthing and non-birthing parent. Laura is passionate about creating a safe, supportive, and inclusive space for our community to connect, share, and grow together.
