Rainbow Families Weekend Away - Wrap 2024

Our Rainbow Families weekend away at Kiama was the best!

We had a great weekend with 79 adults, 74 children, and 5 babies joining us. It was fantastic to see everyone having a great time, with families already rebooked for next October and March, and others on the waitlist. If you're thinking about joining us next time, it’s a good idea to get on the list early – spots fill up quickly, and we try to give our group first preference when we can.

Pizza Night Success
Our pizza night was a real highlight. Dominos in Kiama told us it was their biggest order ever! Sharing a meal together was a perfect way to kick things off and helped everyone settle in.

Growing Group of Tweens and Teens
One of the best parts was watching the tweens and teens connect. They’ve formed strong friendships, and it’s great to see them feeling right at home with each other.

New Friendships Formed
We were excited to welcome many new families. Throughout the weekend, new friendships were made, whether over meals, during activities, or watching the kids play. That sense of community is what makes these events so special.

First Sleepover Milestone
One young person, who had always been nervous about sleepovers, managed to spend their first night away with friends. It was a big achievement and a great reminder of how valuable these events are for building confidence.

A Growing Group of Gay Dads
We had a record number of gay dads and their kids with us this year, which was fantastic to see. This part of our community continues to grow, and the support among families is inspiring.

Parents Getting Involved
Finally, a special mention to the parents who joined in the EDOR games with the kids – there were a few bruises from trying to keep up, but the laughs and smiles made it all worth it!

Thanks to everyone who made this weekend one to remember. We’re already looking forward to the next chance to come together and create more memories.
