Help keep Rainbow Families Queensland going in 2027 🌈

Over the past 18 months, something really beautiful has grown across Queensland.

Playgroups. Events. New friendships. Regional connections. Advocacy. Volunteers putting their hands up. Families walking into a room and knowing they don’t have to explain who they are.

But the funding supporting our Queensland work is not being renewed for 2027.

We’ve been working hard behind the scenes to secure replacement funding, but right now, we haven’t been successful.

So we’re trying something we’ve never done before.

We’re putting some of the power back into the hands of our community.

Our goal is to raise $25,000 by December through our first Queensland Giving Circle.

We’re looking for 30 Founding Members who want to help keep this work going.

We’ve watched people arrive at their first playgroup knowing nobody and leave having swapped phone numbers.

We’ve watched volunteers turn a simple idea into a local community.

We’ve heard parents tell us they can now walk into Rainbow Families events and already have their own little network of queer parent friends.

And we want that to continue.

A little note from Petria

For the past 18 months, I’ve had the absolute privilege of helping grow Rainbow Families in Queensland.

I’ve seen first-hand how much these spaces matter, not just for our kids, but for the parents who are trying to find community too.

Finding out that our funding wasn’t continuing into 2027 was heartbreaking.

We’re still working behind the scenes on other funding options, but we didn’t want to quietly accept that this work might disappear.

So we’re asking our community to help us keep it going.
