New Space for Rainbow Dads in Victoria
A community-led playgroup for GBTIQA+ dads and their kids is launching soon in Naarm/Melbourne.
Come along to the launch event for a beautiful day with Drag Story Time with Frock Hudson, face painting, balloons, sensory play and rooftop hangs. It’s the first space of its kind in Victoria created by and for Rainbow Dads — including those exploring parenthood through surrogacy, fostering, or adoption.
Date: Saturday 17 May 2025
Time: 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Location: Bargoonga Nganjin, North Fitzroy Library
RSVP by 9 May and help spread the word to GBTIQA+ dads who might love this.
💬 Costa Constantaras, Rainbow Dads Victoria President:
“This playgroup is more than just toys and morning tea. It’s about representation, connection, and creating a village for the dads and their families where they can share the highs and lows of parenting and access informal support.”
Why this matters
This is more than a playgroup! Rainbow Dads Victoria have created a safe and welcoming space specifically for GBTIQA+ dads and their kids. Born from lived experience and community need, the Rainbow Dads Playgroup is here to nurture belonging, friendship and support for families that often go unseen in mainstream services.
Whether you're already a parent or on the path through surrogacy, fostering or adoption, this new initiative is designed to help you feel seen, supported and connected – from day one.
💬 Daniel Torcasio-Rugaas, Rainbow Dad:
“Not only did we want to connect with other rainbow dads ourselves, we wanted our daughter to grow up in a community where having friends with rainbow dads was the status quo.”
