Every year Rainbow Families proudly (and loudly and fabulously!) participate in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.
It means a lot to us
For LGBTQ+ parents including gay dads, lesbian mums, trans and gender diverse parents it is an opportunity to celebrate and be visible and for our kids, it is a chance to make memories that will last a lifetime! We have a few different floats for families to march with us and be with our beautiful community. Tickets to march with us are limited and offered to members first. You can sign up as a member here.
It's always different and we come together to make it amazing!
Each year we come together to decide on costumes, dance routines, float themes and other fabulousness. We paint banners, craft our floats, source props and produce T-shirts for everyone. The lead up is all part of the fun!
Family viewing for those that don't want to march or have little ones who can't
We also have a family viewing area for people that don't want to march, but don't want to miss out on the action. Our family viewing area is the perfect space for families that want to be part of the excitement of Mardi Gras without having to march. It is a safe quiet area for families to be with the Rainbow Families community and enjoy the parade.
So keep an eye out in the newsletter for details - we also offer a limited number of tickets for Rainbow Families members who are not marching with us to come and enjoy the whole spectacular event.
