It’s time to get your sparkle on. Mardi Gras is almost here!

Join us as we celebrate our wonderful families in the Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras 2021 Parade.

Mardi Gras is our opportunity to celebrate our rainbow families and push for recognition. Join our community as we proudly march around the SCG......

Due to COVID restrictions, the format has drastically changed.  Participant groups will be marching around the Sydney Cricket Oval and then performing a 45 second piece in the middle.

Rainbow Families, Gay Dads and Regional Catchups have been lucky enough to each receive a 40-participant group each this year.

Unlike previous years, these will be marching consecutively, but not together.  Each group will have different tshirts, different music, and a different centre moment.

Due to COVID restriction, you will not be able to sell tickets once you have bought them.  Mardi Gras requires full registration details of participants a month before Mardi Gras is held.

All those who buy tickets will be provided, in the coming weeks, with a Rainbow Families Mardi Gras survival pack. This will outline start and finish times, directions, t-shirt, what to wear and how to accessorise. 

 

Our friends at Mott Macdonald have contributed towards the costs of Mardi Gras this year, helping to reduce the ticket price for families marching this year.

Gay Dads

Play Groups And Catch Ups

Mirvac Retail have covered the cost of 40 tickets for low income families that would not otherwise be able to march this year. It’s been a difficult year for a lot of families and Mardi Gras isn’t a cheap night out. Thanks to the support from Mirvac Retail 40 people will have the time of their life - flying the rainbow flag, being out and proud Rainbow Families.

Here is what you need to know:

  • Tickets are limited and will sell fast. Tickets are $70 per person. 

  • Tickets will be available for financial members of Rainbow Families. Membership is only $22. Sign up as a member here.

  • Due to COVID restriction, you will not be able to sell tickets once you have bought them.  Mardi Gras requires full registration details of participants a month before Mardi Gras is held.

  • All those who buy tickets will be provided, in the coming weeks, with a Rainbow Families Mardi Gras survival pack. This will outline start and finish times, directions, t-shirt, what to wear and how to accessorise. 

  • When you purchase your tickets you will need to choose T-Shirt sizes.

  • If Mardi Gras is cancelled unfortunately we will not be able to refund the entire ticket price.  Putting on a Mardi Gras float is expensive, and is entirely funded by ticket sales.  We will attempt to refund what we can, but it is not guaranteed.  Please keep this in mind when deciding whether to buy tickets.

  • Buy tickets in the CORRECT float.  If you are a gay dad, buy tickets for the gay dads float, etc.

  • Tshirts will be ordered after ticket sales, and there will be no opportunity to change them.  It is important that you nominate the correct size when purchasing your ticket

  • Because there is no fair day this year, tshirts will be brought to the parade and worn from there.  We ask that everyone completes their outfit with a rainbow tutu or similar.

  • Tickets are limited to 5 per person.

THERE WILL BE NO EXCHANGES OF T-SHIRTS. Choose wisely and if in doubt go a size bigger.

The cost of the ticket will cover part of the cost of participating in the parade - hire of entertainment, creation of the float, music, banners as well as your T-Shirt and accessories.

We have a limited number of tickets, and unfortunately that means some people will miss out. 

Feedback from previous years has been the ladies shirt sizes are small, however there are lots of larger sizes in the men's range. 

This year for maximum impact and enjoyment we are doing a choregraphed dance. All marchers are being asked to attend two rehearsals for choreography. It will be a fairly easy choreographed dance routine to be performed on the night.

Rehearsals will be at Transcend Dance Academy – 414 Gardeners Rd Roseberry
