How To Include Diverse Families This Mother's Day Webinar - 29 April

We know Mother’s Day and Father’s Day are important days to celebrate, but they can be tricky for children from diverse families. Mother’s Day and Father’s Day present some challenges for families that don’t have a mum and a dad.

Some schools and early learning centres are great at supporting children from diverse families on these days, while others need a little help to get it right. To support our families we have developed a new resource designed to help schools and early learning centres support every family on Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.

In the lead up to Mother’s Day this year we are hosting a one hour webinar to help schools and early learning centres be more inclusive of diverse families. Join us on zoom for this after school workshop for educators on practical tools and tips for improving inclusivity in schools, pre-schools and other systems. Speakers include Ashley Scott (#StrangSafeFabulous, and Rainbow Families) and Moo Baulch (WAGEC).

Date - Friday April 29th

Time - 3:30 - 4:30 (AEST)

Schools can be supportive of all families by honouring how individual families choose to celebrate the day. Schools can put an emphasis on all of the loving relationships a child has instead of a specific relationship they may not have.

Our resource has five simple things that schools and early learning centres can do to include diverse families. The most important thing that schools can do to support families is to ask how individual families would like their child to celebrate the day. You can download the resource here
