Love Still Makes A Family - Federal Report

This landmark report highlights the discrimination faced by LGBTQ+ families when accessing government services.

This research report looks at the real experiences of discrimination and exclusion Rainbow Families members and their families face when accessing Australian Government services. From the day-to-day frustrations of forms that simply don’t reflect our family types through to schools that can choose to exclude our children because they have LGBTQ+ parents, this report makes the case for improving inclusivity.

Two things are clear: language has power to create inclusion, and family diversity and inclusivity training will help remove barriers and reduce discrimination.

In 2017, our community campaigned for marriage equality. While that battle was won, this follow-up report shows there is still a long way to go before members of our community experience full equality when accessing government services.
