End of year celebration

What better way to end lockdown and have our first event in months, than to have a mini sports carnival! Bring your running shoes because the whole family can get involved in this super fun event - no pressure though if you are not the sporty parent you can cheer from the sidelines while your little one learns new sports skills in a safe and inclusive environment.

When:

Sunday December 5th from 10.00 am

Where:

HJ Mahoney Park

570 Illawarra Rd Marrickville

This is the park opposite Steel Park on the Cooks River. Just next to the new skate park and basketball court. Look out for the Rainbow Families Marquee.

Be there with your sports gear on for a 10am start. There will also be jumping castles for kids who need a break from all the sport. The sport activities will wrap up around midday when we can all share lunch together thanks to Acumen Strata.

Joining us will be the Sydney Sixers who are long time supporters of Rainbow Families. Expect to learn new batting and bowling skills from the wonderful volunteers with the Sixers.

The Flying Bats - everyone’s favourite LGBTQ+ women’s football club will be bringing their goals with them and teaching us how it’s done on the soccer field.

Netball NSW are coming along in their new inclusive uniforms to share with us some passing skills, and to show us how to shoot a goal!

We are thrilled to have the support of Acumen Strata who will be buying us all lunch on the day. Make sure you hang around to share lunch with your new sports friends. Please RSVP so we know how many people to cater for.

As this is a fully outdoor event, it is weather dependent. If we have poor weather, the event will be postponed. Please check the Facebook group on the day for any updates if you are in doubt.

The sports carnivals will be an opportunity for LGBTQ+ parents including gay dads, lesbian mums, bi barents, trans/gender diverse parents, queer parents, and parents through adoption, fostering and surrogacy to be together with their local community, while getting active with their children.
