Volunteer Profile Bridget

Bridget is a longstanding volunteer who has done so much for our community. Bridget joined the Rainbow Families Committee in 2018  and started looking for projects they could get involved with and add value to.
Bridget and their family were one of the courageous families that was involved in our Trans and Gender Diverse Parents Guide, not only sharing their story, but also encouraging other families to get involved in the project. The  Trans and Gender Diverse Parents Guide is a ground breaking resource for families in our community and is one of the pieces of work that Rainbow Families is most proud of.
More recently Bridget has been volunteering on our exciting new Breastfeeding, chestfeeding and human milk feeding book and classes.  This project started over 2 years ago and has been a labour of love for everyone involved. Bridget consulted with community members to ensure lived experience was included in the book and interwoven into the classes. They managed other volunteers to help get the book written, and developed a lot of the content them-self. Bridget was the driving force behind this project which certainly had its challenges and delays but we can all agree it  is a much needed parent education resource now available to families in our community.
Bridget is an active member of our Community Welfare and Education Committee, and is always offering to help out and get involved in new projects. Bridget we appreciate the huge amount of work you have put in for the community. Thank you.
If you would like to get involved with Rainbow Families and the work we do to support LGBTQ+ parents please get in touch
