Our Peer Support Program is getting closer to launching. This week we have employed Monique Ribeiro to set up and run the program over the next 6 months.

In the coming months will run a pilot group of parents matched with existing members of the Rainbow Families community to help reduce isolation, and build community for the newest members of Rainbow Families.
The peer support program idea came about last year when families were struggling with isolation during COVID lockdowns and when our playgroups, catch ups and new parents group could not run. We looked at a way we can support LGBTQ+ parents including gay dads, lesbian mums, trans/gender diverse parents, queer parents, and parents through adoption, fostering and surrogacy. It’s taken a little while to get the funding we needed to get this program off the ground but between The Funding Network and a grant from Communities and Justice as part of their Social Sector Transformation Fund we are excited to be able to deliver this much needed program to our community. A special thank you to Skye who volunteered earlier in the year on the project.

We will be doing a call out for participants in the pilot soon, so if you are new to the community or if you would like to be matched to a new family make sure you are signed up to our newsletter so you don’t miss out.
