Families across NSW came together on Sunday May 1 to celebrate the fifth annual International Family Equality Day. Events were held in Newcastle, Dubbo, Currans Hill and Central Coast.

In Sydney, Rainbow Families hosted a BBQ in Sydney Park, along with partners City of Sydney, Australian Marriage Equality and NSW Police.

With a theme of Love Makes a Family, we were joined by a number of special guests including the Deputy Leader of the Labor Party, the Hon. Tanya Plibersek and former Deputy Prime Minister, the Hon. Anthony Albanese, both of whom shared their concerns about the harm a divisive plebiscite debate will cause rainbow families.
