A groundbreaking new resource developed by the Safe Schools Coalition Australia in partnership with teachers, students and LGBTI youth organisation Minus18 is set to increase students’ understanding of gender diversity and deliver more inclusive schools.
According to Safe Schools, All Of Us is a practical teaching tool kit that will make schools safer and more inclusive not just for same sex attracted, intersex and gender diverse students, but for their friends, teachers and families too.
The resource is aligned to the Health and Physical Education learning area of the Australian Curriculum for years 7 and 8. It is free for all schools and includes a collection of short videos capturing the real life experiences of LGBTI young people, together with posters and accompanying classroom activities.
National Safe Schools Program Director, Sally Richardson, said the resource is already in demand from teachers wanting more information on how to provide more inclusive classrooms. According to Richardson over 350 school staff across Australia have already signed up for a copy of the resource ahead of its release.
