Rainbow Families is a 100% volunteer organisation, providing a network of support to children and families within the NSW LGBTIQ community. One of the ways we support the LGBTIQ community is by working with Social and Play Groups that support Rainbow Families.
Are you a lesbian mum, gay dads or trans parent living in the Southern Highlands? Do you want to meet up with other LGBTIQ parents? Do you want your children to meet other children with gay parents? Come along to one of the Southern Highlands Rainbow Families Social Group catch ups.
Southern Highlands Rainbow Families Social Group
The Southern Highlands Rainbow Families social group is for Rainbow Families in the Southern Highlands region. The group is a place to meet other Rainbow Families in the area. This includes anyone who identifies as LGBTIQ with kids, pregnant or in any stage of planning for a family.
The Southern Highlands Rainbow Families Social Group was started in 2015 after it was discovered that there were a lot of LGBTIQ families in the area, and a few of us thought it would be great to organise a catch up.
The group welcomes all types of Rainbow Families from the Southern Highlands. We have members who come from as far out as Goulburn and from the Camden area.
We usually meet up at the Mittagong RSL, which has a playroom for the kids to play while the rest of us catch up over a coffee. We also venture to the park sometimes, but the weather in the Southern Highlands can be a little unpredictable, so the RSL has become a reliable catch up location.
We generally meet on the second Sunday of every month. For up to date information about our catch ups check out the Rainbow Families events page.
For more information about the group, request to join the Southern Highlands Rainbow Families on Facebook. We hope to see you and your Rainbow Family at an event in the future.
