The ocean's sweetest and most forgetful blue tang fish, Dory, returns in Finding Dory, the sequel to the Pixar classic Finding Nemo.
Before the adventures that brought Dory, voiced by Ellen Degeneres, to Marlin and Nemo, she was on her own search to find her parents. But for Dory, even the big facts are hard to remember. When a flashback triggers a childhood memory, Dory resumes her mission. Slowly she pieces together clues about her parents' whereabouts, and soon finds herself at the Marine Life Institute in California.
Although the theme of searching for loved ones might sound like a retread, Finding Dory has too much charm and originality to be eclipsed by its predecessor, and is made richer for its examination of emotionally complex issues, like alternative family structures and the challenges of living with a disability, all handled with Pixar's characteristic heart and humour.
Old favourites Marlin, Nemo, and Dory are joined by new pals like Hank, the grouchy yet big-hearted octopus, Destiny, a short-sighted whale shark, and Bailey, the beluga whale with an echolocation problem. Featuring dazzling panoramic oceanscapes, Finding Dory is best watched on the big screen, and it's a tale that won't easily be forgotten.
