Rainbow Families is thrilled to join partners across the globe in celebration of the sixth annual International Family Equality Day (IFED) – a world-wide celebration of the LGBTQ parenting and family community.
Rainbow Families will be joining groups around the globe in celebrating the unique contribution made by diverse families including LGBTIQ-parented families, single parent families, foster families and grandparent-carer families.
#IFED2017 aims to highlight the diversity of family structures and to strengthen solidarity among families, helping to raise awareness among politicians and the general public about the need for equal treatment and recognition for all families, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of their family's members.
Rainbow families, friends and allies across New South Wales will be celebrating on May 7.
Supported by the Commonwealth Bank and ACON, the event will be bigger and better than ever, with live entertainment, jumping castles, a petting farm, face-painters and arts and crafts. The City of Sydney is providing a free BBQ.
There will be a bake sale to help raise money for upcoming events. If you are interested in contributing, bring along a plate of baked goods to add to the table. We also encourage you to bring a picnic rug and settle in for a family friendly afternoon.
Our friends at Australian Marriage Equality, ACON, PFLAG, Dowson and Turco, Team Sydney, NSW Police, Gleebooks, and the NSW Anti-discrimination Board, will be joining us with some special activities for the kids
The day comes with an important message – Love Makes a Family – and local politicians will be on hand to support the message against homophobia, transphobia and bi-phobia.
